My name is Andrew Carter

Welcome to my practice, Magic City Counseling!

I started working in the mental health field after graduating with my bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2014 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. After getting hands on experience working in group homes and residential facilities for children and adolescents, I decided I wanted to expand my skills and decided to pursue a career as a therapist. I officially started my training in 2015 in my graduate program at The College of William and Mary and graduated and pursued my license in 2017.

Since graduating I was working as a therapist with a very diverse population of adults, teens, and families and a little over 3 years ago I switched gears to providing outpatient therapy to adults, couples, and teens (on a case-by-case basis).

When I’m not working as a therapist, I love spending time with my wife and 2 sons enjoying the outdoors: fishing, hunting, gardening, hiking, camping. I love everything outdoors and conservation! I am also an avid home-cook and love trying out new recipes and ideas in the kitchen.

I am really looking forward to hearing from you and hope we can form a collaborative therapeutic relationship!

I recognize that each person has their own unique story, and that their healing journey is a deeply personal one.

By creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard and understood, I work to help my clients to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-acceptance. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where my clients can explore their feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a way that feels comfortable and empowering. prioritize my client’s individual experiences, feelings, and perspectives.

Overall, my therapeutic approach is characterized by a deep commitment to empathy, compassion, and understanding. By taking the time to truly understand my clients and meet them where they are, I help them to develop the skills and insights they need to overcome their challenges, find meaning and purpose in their lives, and build fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.

I am independently licensed in the sate of Montana and the state of Virginia.
